This year for our FIFTH anniversary, we were lucky enough to have an afternoon AND evening all to ourselves! (Thanks mom and dad!!)
Neven agreed to make the surprise plans and let me tell you, he did not disappoint!
He picked me up at work (w00t! no bus!) and we were on our way. Grabbed a quick lunch and continued to the surprise location - the AGO! It was fantastic. We wandered at our own pace, stopped for quiet snacks and smiled sympathetically at the parents we saw chasing their toddlers.
This was the only place that we could take pictures...
My favourite was the Blackwood exhibit. His prints are amazing. My favourites are not online anywhere, but trust me, they are gorgeous. (UPDATE - I just found one and the other of my two faves. The online versions don't do them justice.) We decided before we went in that we would get something to remind us of the adventure, maybe a postcard of our favourite piece, but there was really not much in the gift shop of his work.
Instead we got this postcard and then headed over to the village idiot for a pint. Afterward, we wandered down to Queen Street and went by the Cameron for pint #2. We ran into Johnie and Dougal and then Paula! Dougal and Paula were on their way to see this, which had me in hysterics for the rest of the night.
The plan had been to go for sushi, but we were now just moments away from our favourite restaurant. It was fate. We dined at La Hacienda and were sooooo happy. Dessert was a trip to Cafe Demetre on Bloor St. W on our way back home. I still can't believe how much food I ate, or how much fun I had.
Love you babe.
