Last week I was on a "staycation". I was very excited about a week of drinking, lazying about and visiting friends, followed by more drinking. Sadly, none of this was meant to be. My staycation journal:

1st day of staycation
Enjoyed the beautiful wedding of my baby brother and his gorgeous bride. Had an amazing time. Fantastic start to staycation.
Saturday, April 4th, 2009:
Staycation goes head first into the crapper. Dylan wakes up with his left eye completely swollen shut from infection. His 3 month long cough is the worst it has been in weeks. Off to emergency. Dylan goes onto oral steroids to help the cough...
Sunday, April 5th, 2009:
Things get worse. Dylan now has the flu to go along with his pus eye and cough. He becomes buddies with the barf bowl and we see how much laundry Neven can do in a day.
Monday, April 6th, 2009:
Spa day plans go out the window as puking continues. Who needs a massage when you have a sick toddler to throw up on you. At least I manage to get away with a rescheduling fee instead of the full massage charge - thank goodness!
Tuesday, April 7th, 2009:
Cancel dentist appointment as I am starting to feel a bit under the weather myself...wait for it -
Wednesday, April 8th, 2009
Oh yeah - mama has the full blown flu. This is bad. I do not eat or drink or get out of bed all day. Turns out that my drinking buddies are also sick, so at least we can commiserate about being bedridden.

Finish peep show.
Friday, April 10th, 2009
Hang with the boys. This was a good day - except that Neven appears to be the next Stoski on the sick list.
Saturday, April 11th, 2009
Ok - now Neven is officially sick. Not much fun around here.
Sunday, April 12th, 2009:
Brunch with Steph! Two mimosas! Party! This was the highlight of the day - Possibly of the week. Lovely family dinner at Gigi and Gipa's. Neven stays home in quarantine. Dylan feels a little warm at bedtime...
Monday, April 13th, 2009:
Dylan wakes up with a fever. Cancel visit with Leah and Lola (previously postponed from the week before). Mama instincts push me to make an appointment with the ENT that we saw last year when Dylan was hospitalized. Even though he is a specialist, he saw us right away. We were on our way home with a diagnosis of tracheitis and a prescription for some antibiotics and another round of oral steroids by 10:30am. Which was really good news because I was able to get the first dose of both meds into him before he fell asleep. He woke up in some pretty severe respiratory distress, but we were able to manage it with his puffers until the medication took effect. Dylan seems to be on the mend.
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009:
Neven is home today with Dylan, and despite a rough start to the day, Dylan seems to be doing pretty well. So - I am back to work.
Moral of the story? Staycations really do suck.
